According to the CV of 2024 Doctor Who Christmas special producer Alison Sterling, former Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has written the special.

Director Alex Pillai filmed the special in late 2023. It was filmed on location in Cardiff on October 30 and 31, 2023.

Set during World War II, the special stars Ncuti Gatwa, Nicola Coughlin, Joel Fry and Peter Benedict.

Steven Moffat is heavily rumoured to have also written a Doctor Who episode for the Doctor Who series which will begin transmitting in May 2024.

The Doctor Who 2024 Christmas special will likely transmit on December 25, 2024.
