The BBC has published the official synopsis for the seventh episode of Doctor Who‘s new series, titled ‘Kill the Moon’.
The synopsis reads: “In the near future, the Doctor and Clara find themselves on a space shuttle making a suicide mission to the Moon.
“Crash-landing on the lunar surface, they find a mining base full of corpses, vicious spider-like creatures poised to attack, and a terrible dilemma. When Clara turns to the Doctor for help, she gets the shock of her life.”
Written by Peter Harness and guest starring Hermione Norris (Spooks, In the Club), the episode airs on Saturday 4 October on BBC One and is described by Steven Moffat as “proper drama”.
Harness has previously written episodes of BBC One crime dramas Wallander and Case Histories, but is new to Doctor Who. The Sweden-based writer is also working on BBC One’s upcoming Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell adaptation.
Series 8 continues this weekend on BBC One with ‘Time Heist’.
