Frank Cottrell Boyce appears to be the final writer to be confirmed for Doctor Who‘s new series.
The British screenwriter has previously written 24 Hour Party People and Danny Boyle’s 2004 movie Millions. Most recently he co-wrote the script for The Railway Man, starring Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman.
The writer told the Liverpool Echo: “It’s like joining a family. It’s a great thing to be involved with. I grew up loving Doctor Who, and my teenage son was a big fan of it too. It’s a pleasure to write it and I’m looking forward to seeing Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor. I’m hoping there’s a bit of Malcolm Tucker in there too.”
Episode 10 of the new series is the only episode without an officially confirmed writer.
Series 8 will begin on BBC One on Saturday 23 August with a feature-length premiere episode entitled ‘Deep Breath’.
