First phase completed on ‘Doctor Who’s new Cardiff home

Production on Doctor Who will be moving to its new home, from the Upper Boat studios, in 2012. Located in Cardiff Bay, the new 170,000 square foot studios (equivalent in size to three football pitches) will also provide a permanent home to BBC dramas Casualty and Pobol y Cwm, as well as future productions.

Cardiff Council Leader Rodney Berman commented: “This is a hugely exciting project which will see the BBC increase its production and development presence in Cardiff, building on the successes of Doctor Who and Torchwood by creating a centre of excellence for drama with fantastic facilities and filming space.”
