Neil Patrick Harris, Emmy and Tony-winning American comedian and star of stage and screen, has joined the cast of Doctor Who and is currently filming scenes set to air in 2023 as part of the show’s 60th anniversary.
Harris first became famous playing a teenage doctor in the American television programme Doogie Howser, MD. He now plays the enemy of a different Doctor.
Showrunner Russell T Davies, said in a press release, “It’s my huge honour to open our studio doors for the mighty Neil Patrick Harris… but who, why, what is he playing? You’ll just have to wait. But I promise you, the stuff we’re shooting now is off the scale. Doctor beware!”
Davies also said on Instagram that Harris is “playing the greatest enemy the Doctor has ever faced.” He describes Harris as “such a great actor, such a great man, it’s an honor and a hoot.”
Harris said on his own Instagram, “I’ll try my hardest to do my worst. This Doctor has no idea what’s in store. And even if he does… Who Cares? Ha ha ha HA ha-ha-ha!”
Guest stars have so far been announced the day before they are spotted at location filming. The next location filming will take place in Bristol. Filming signs are already in place for Doctor Who filming in Bristol.
The signs are at the corner of Rupert Street and Christmas Street in Bristol. TB LOC sign points to filming location. There are none yet, but the base where they park all their vehicles is at Lloyds Amphitheatre. #dwsr pic.twitter.com/V5MbBq9lJc
