Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi has hinted at what to expect from the two-part story which will open the new season.
Season 9 will kick off in September with two episodes written by Steven Moffat, titled ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’ and ‘The Witch’s Familiar’.
Capaldi told EW: “[The story] places the Doctor in a conflict that is central to his being, as well as containing some subtle tributes to the ’60s, and truly wonderful guest performances.”
He teased that the above photo “shows the Doctor about to make a mistake that has cataclysmic repercussions.”
The Scottish actor also revealed that Missy, as played by returning guest star Michelle Gomez, is “more magnificently bad than ever before.”
Capaldi is currently shooting the two-part season finale, directed by Rachel Talalay (‘Dark Water’, ‘Death in Heaven’).
