In an interview with the Evening Standard, Yasmin Finney spoke of working alongside Ncuti Gatwa in Doctor Who.

“Two black, queer, magic actors on screen together? It was bound to happen, the universe was bound to connect the lines. We’re intertwined, and I think we complement each other so well. We see how privileged we are.”

Finney stars as Rose in the Doctor Who anniversary special The Star Beast. Catherine Tate, who plays Donna Noble in all three 60th anniversary specials is believed to be playing Rose’s mother.

David Tennant plays the Fourteenth Doctor in the 60th Anniversary specials. The Fourteenth Doctor is expected to regenerate into the Fifteenth Doctor played by Ncuti Gatwa for the 60th anniversary.

It is yet unknown which scene in what special Rose and the Fifteenth Doctor meet. Finney possibly stars in more than one 60th anniversary special.

Doctor Who will return in November 2023 with three 60th anniversary specials starring David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as companion Donna Noble titled The Star Beast, Wild Blue Yonder and The Giggle.

In the following festive period, Ncuti Gatwa will star in his first full Doctor Who episode as the Fifteenth Doctor in the Doctor Who festive special alongside Millie Gibson as companion Ruby Sunday.

A new 8-episode Doctor Who series starring Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor and Millie Gibson as Ruby will debut in 2024.
