Season 3 of Star Trek: Lower Decks will stream from Thursday, August 25th.
Back in April, the entertaining Star Trek animation Lower Decks dropped a Season 3 teaser on us. Now we have a date – the show returns on Thursday, August the 25th 2022. Subsequent episodes from the ten-part series will drop weekly.
The show comes from Mike McMahan (Rick and Morty, Solar Opposites) and its third run promises to challenge the U.S.S. Cerritos’ ensigns in even more hilarious ways. To begin with, they need to deal with the cliffhanger finale for Season Two; dramatic events saw Captain Carol Freeman arrested for the destruction of Pakled planet.
The date announcement also comes with official key art, or if you rather, a shiny new poster:
With the show leaning into Star Trek III – The Search for Spock references, the poster has gone the whole hog. Fingers crossed for a Christopher Lloyd cameo!
Here’s the original:
Lower Decks‘ trusty band of Ensigns are Beckett Marnier, The Boys‘ Brad Boimler, Tendi and Rutherford – voiced by Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells and Eugene Cordero.
Meanwhile, the U.S.S. Cerritos Bridge crew include Captain Carol Freeman (Dawnn Lewis), Commander Jack Ransom (Jerry O’Connell), Lieutenant Shaxs (Fred Tatasciore) and Doctor T’Ana (Gillian Vigman).
Despite June’s launch of Paramount+ in the UK, and while we’ve no seen no specific confirmation from Prime Video, it’s where we’re expecting Lower Decks to land. That’s confirmed by StarTrek.com who say:
“Star Trek: Lower Decks streams exclusively in the United States and Latin America on Paramount+, on Amazon Prime Video in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Japan, India and more, and in Canada on Bell Media’s CTV Sci-Fi Channel and streams on Crave.”
We imagine there will be a trailer imminently – we’ll keep you posted.
