Eddie Robson takes an irreverent look at the show’s history and considers its amusing inconsistences.
With the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who almost upon us, there’s a TARDIS-load of new merchandise available; from Big Finish audio dramas to animated Troughton reconstructions, Blu-rays to comic strip collections.
One of the more off-beat recent releases comes from writer Eddie Robson. Best known for his radio sitcom ‘Welcome To Our Village, Please Invade Carefully’ and countless audio dramas, he also wrote an entertaining regular column entitled “The Big Ask” to accompany the now defunct Doctor Who Figurine Collection.
For Do Time Lords Get Drunk? And Other Important Questions About Doctor Who: An Unofficial And Unauthorised Guide, Robson has collected those columns together, adding some additional unpublished pieces.
Clearly coming from a place of love, it considers puzzlers from all six decades of the show. Important issues such as whether UNIT really was a secret organisation and if the Doctor really built the TARDIS? Where the earlier Doctors were time scooped from in ‘The Five Doctors’ and if the Fugitive Doctor is definitely a past Doctor?
Running the gamut of the Doctors with bite-sized answers, the book is an awful lot of fun.
Do Time Lords Get Drunk? And Other Important Questions About Doctor Who: An Unofficial And Unauthorised Guide is available on both Amazon Kindle and Kobo, priced £2.50.
