Michael Dorn recently talked to TrekMovie about playing Worf, and the possibility of returning to the role in Star Trek: Picard
Star Trek: Picard season 1 brought a litany of Next Generation (and other) characters back to our screens, including (spoiler): Data, Deanna Troi and Riker as well as Voyager’s 7of9. We understand Levar Burton has a big part to play in season 2 (as we revealed here) and there’s an ambition to have all the core crew appear at some point. Despite leaving for Deep Space 9, that includes Michael Dorn’s Worf. As a side note, we look forward to finding out what Wesley has been doing since leaving the Enterprise. We also understand Gates McFadden has had talks about reprising Beverley Crusher.
Speaking about getting in Klingon character again, Dorn had this to say:
…you have to realize is that I have to get into makeup. You are talking about three hours. For me to do that, it really has to be kind of worth it, you know what I mean? I don’t want to get in makeup and just stand around and scowl at people.
At this point the interview asks the obvious question about a role on Star Trek: Lower Decks (Q has appeared, for example):
They haven’t they have not contacted me at all. Not a peep. So I just assumed that it’s not gonna happen.
It’s disappointing news, and things can change easily, so fingers crossed for Dorn’s return at some stage. The interview also confirms he has been in more episodes of Star Trek in all its forms than anyone else. It also talks about a pitch he made for a Worf spin-off. The interview can be read here.
