After previously giving us the low down Dolly Parton, this week Netflix has another trailer for us: WTF is… Midnight Sky?
Well, we’ve seen the trailer, so we can tell you! It’s the new George Clooney produced film coming to Netflix on December 23. According to Netflix themselves:
…post-apocalyptic tale follows Augustine (George Clooney), a lonely scientist in the Arctic, as he races to stop Sully (Felicity Jones) and her fellow astronauts from returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe. Clooney directs the adaptation of Lily Brooks-Dalton’s acclaimed novel Good Morning, Midnight, co-starring David Oyelowo, Kyle Chandler, Demián Bichir and Tiffany Boone.
On the face of it, Midnight Sky looks well timed. 2020 has been as apocalyptic as any of us would ever like to see, and Netflix is releasing this in the middle of winter. One notable change from the novel is the character of Sully was changed during production when it was discovered Felicity Jones was pregnant, with the pregnancy incorporated into the story. It’s not the first science fiction film for Clooney, who also starred in Gravity, but it seems his role is more central to the story in Midnight Sky.
