Bergerac’s 1947 red Triumph Roadster is the same one that was used in the original series.
Bergerac, the troubled Jersey based detective returns to our screens in early 2025.
With Damien Molony taking on the role made famous by Jim Nettles between 1981 and 1991, there’s a whole new cast. However, one of the icons of the original show is coming back.
The new production, which reinvents the show as a six-part character led mystery, has confirmed that the detective will be getting around the island in style. They’ve brought the character’s iconic red 1947 Triumph Roadster, and it’s even the same vehicle.
Damien Molony said:
“When people talk about Bergerac, two things immediately spring to mind: Jersey, and the car. We’ve recently wrapped on filming, and I’ve had the best time stepping into the role of Jim Bergerac – I’ve even had the privilege of getting behind the wheel of the iconic Triumph Roadster. We couldn’t have re-imagined this series without paying homage to the original, and the car beautifully bridges the two. I can’t wait to share it with the fans.”
The reimagined Bergerac
Damien Molony (Being Human, Crashing) takes the lead as Jim Bergerac – a broken man, grappling with grief and alcoholism following his wife’s recent death. His mother-in-law, Charlie (Zoë Wanamaker), is concerned Jim isn’t putting his daughter Kim (Chloé Sweetlove) first and, when the daughter-in-law of wealthy businessman Arthur Wakefield (Philip Glenister) is murdered, Jim must fight through his personal struggles to become the formidable investigator he once was.
Toby Whithouse (The Game) is the showrunner. He leads a writing team which includes Brian Fillis (Trust), Catherine Tregenna (Torchwood) and Polly Buckle (A Discovery of Witches).
The series comes from Blacklight TV and Westward Studios, supported by Visit Jersey. It airs on U&Drama in early 2025.
