Prime Video’s new animated comedy stars Maya Rudolph, Natasha Lyonne and Kieran Culkin.
Ahead of a February launch, Prime Video have released details of their upcoming sci-fi comedy The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy.
The adult animated show stars the voices of Maya Rudolph, Natasha Lyonne, Keke Palmer, Kieran Culkin and Sam Smith. Additionally, they’ve just announced that Everything Everywhere All at Once‘s Stephanie Hsu is a series regular too.
Here’s what we know about The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy
The show follows Dr. Sleech and Dr. Klak—aliens, best friends, and intergalactically renowned surgeons—as they tackle anxiety-eating parasites, illegal time loops, and deep-space STIs. In Season One, doctors Sleech and Klak take on a highly dangerous and potentially groundbreaking case and, in doing so, put existence itself in jeopardy. Although considering their dismal personal lives, oblivion might be an improvement.
The show comes from creator Cirocco Dunlap (Russian Doll), who serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer. Fellow executive producers are Maya Rudolph, Danielle Renfrew Behrens and Natasha Lyonne for Animal Pictures. Plus, Shauna McGarry. Shannon Prynoski, Chris Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina from Titmouse executive produce too. Artist and animator Robin Eisenberg co-produces and serves as production designer.
The producer is Amazon MGM Studios, with animation by Titmouse Studios (Star Trek: Lower Decks).
Season One of The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy drops worldwide on February 23rd, 2024. It holds eight episodes, with a second season has already commissioned.
