Been So Long: trailer for Michaela Coel’s Netflix musical

Posted Filed under

Netflix are continuing their recent romcom winning streak with the forthcoming release of Michaela Coel’s much-anticipated musical romcom this month – and now we’ve got a trailer…

Upon its announcement, Been So Long was described as a “modern day romance set in London’s Camden, which sees Coel star as a dedicated single mother who, on an unusual night on the town, is charmed by a handsome yet troubled stranger, played by Arinzé Kene”. As for the music, the film is set to feature “a diverse mix of R&B, soul, U.K. dance, and cinematic orchestration”.

Been So Long originates from a play written by Ché Walker and Legends of Tomorrow star Arthur Darvill with Walker penning the script for the film adaptation. Tinge Krishnan will be on directing duties and Coel and Kene will be joined by the likes of George MacKay and Joe Dempsie.

There’s a lot of buzz around this project, thanks to Coel’s work on her own series, Chewing Gum and stellar turn in the latest series of Black Mirror. When the project was nabbed by Netflix, it was described as being the single biggest acquisition of a UK film by the streaming service ever.

Without further ado, the trailer looks something like this…

Safe to say we’re looking forward to this one a lot and you’ll find it on Netflix on Friday 26th October.

We’ll be sure to keep you in the loop on this project.
