American Gods’ head writers have just quit

Things were going too well. The television adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods has been one of the screen highlights of the year. But ahead of season two of the show, we now learn that its two head writers have quit, following disputes with the production company behind it.

Bryan Fuller and Michael Green had been looking for further investment in the show, looking for an increase on the $10m an episode budget that FreemantleMedia had been putting into the show. FreemantleMedia turned that request down, though, and disputes over creative direction have also been cited.

It’s not clear yet who is set to replace the pair, and also, when exactly to expect season two of the show. But the search for new showrunners is set to take precedence…
