Another live-action Marvel limited series is in development for Disney’s upcoming streaming service: we already heard that Loki and Scarlet Witch have shows in the works, and now it seems that the Falcon and the Winter Soldier could be getting a team-up series.
Variety broke the news, reporting that Malcolm Spellman has been hired by Marvel/Disney to pen the series. His previous credits include Empire, Our Family Wedding and the Sopranos video game Road To Respect.
Anthony Mackie will reprise the role of Sam Wilson (aka Falcon) while Sebastian Stan comes back to playing Bucky Barnes (aka The Winter Soldier).
These characters have developed a wonderful chemistry since they first met in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, with their scenes surrounding the airport fight in Captain America: Civil War proving that they can muster up a lot of humour between them.
We don’t yet know the title for the show or how far along it is in development, but one thing we do know is that Kevin Feige – the head honcho of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – is on board as a producer. This is a big deal, since he didn’t have hands-on involvement in the creation of the Marvel/Netflix universe that began with Daredevil.
As we hear more about the Bucky/Falcon series, and Disney’s streaming service plans in general, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
