Sherlock visitor attraction planned for Portsmouth

The visitor attraction would feature “reenactments of plots and Sherlock’s life in Baker Street”, including the use of holograms, reports the Daily Mail. Resources from Portsmouth’s Arthur Conan Doyle collection would also be used.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle began writing the Sherlock Holmes stories after moving to the city in 1882.

Steve Pitt from the Portsmouth Cultural Partnership commented: “What we are talking about is a world class, Sherlock Holmes experience. It would be very interactive and high quality. There are so many tie-ins around the legacy of Sherlock Holmes being ‘born’ in Portsmouth. That’s something that when we look at it, has the potential to create a massive amount of jobs. There are 6.9 million people who search for Sherlock Homes and Conan Doyle on Google every month. There is a massive market for this.”
