Here are some other similarly time-twisting Doctor Who stories we’d recommend checking out if you liked ‘Before the Flood’…
‘The Shakespeare Code’ (2007)
“Who composed Beethoven’s 5th?”
Despite his protestations, the Doctor is always causing paradoxes of the type he warned about. While on perhaps a slightly smaller scale, the Tenth Doctor was dropping Shakespeare’s own lines all over the place in the writer’s presence during his visit to 1599.
‘The God Complex’ (2011)
Writer Toby Whithouse brought back a familiar race, one of the mole-like Tivolian., in the shape of Funeral director Prentice.
Much like his counterpart Gibbis (David Walliams) from the ‘The God Complex’, Prentice (Paul Kaye) was aggressively timid and keen for his planet to be invaded and subjugated.
‘The Daleks’ Master Plan: The Feast of Stephen’ (1965)
Breaking the fourth wall has become an occasional habit for the Doctor. While there are various examples of this, the most famous has to be the First Doctor’s Christmas greeting to the viewers.
Sadly the episode is missing from the archive, presumed wiped, but we can still enjoy the audio, fantastic reconstructions or David Bradley’s recreation of the moment from the wonderful An Adventure in Space and Time.
