Let’s take a look back at 10 of the best Doctor Who audio releases in 2015…
3. ‘UNIT: Extinction’ box set
Kicking off their first new series content, Big Finish brought fan favourites Osgood and Kate Stewart to centre stage for their own adventures. In this case, taking on the global threat of an Auton invasion and dealing with the dangers of modern technology.
2. ‘The Sixth Doctor – The Last Adventure’ box set
Giving Colin Baker his long delayed final bow, this release comprises four adventures from across the Sixth Doctor’s life, with a range of companions and old friends, (including the debut of Miranda Raison’s Mrs Constance Clarke) as he moves towards a momentous final reckoning with his nemesis, the Valeyard.
1. The War Doctor Volume 1: ‘Only the Monstrous’
In possibly their most fan-pleasing announcement ever, the October news that Big Finish has broken the time lock and secured a series of adventures for John Hurt’s War Doctor thrilled Doctor Who fandom.
Arriving in December, this first box set of tales from the Time War saw “Captain Grumpy” become embroiled in the manipulative Cardinal Ollistra’s plans, fighting against the Daleks, but not necessarily with the Time Lords.
‘Only the Monstrous’ offered a rich and layered three-part tale of Dalek action and political betrayal, topped off with a fresh, martial remix of the Doctor Who theme.
