Tom Hiddleston is expected to return as Jonathan Pine for two more seasons of The Night Manager.
It seems like an age since The Night Manager became a television sensation; the John le Carré adaptation was a sizable hit for the BBC in 2016, winning two Emmys and three Golden Globes.
The show starred Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie, with Olivia Colman, Elizabeth Debicki, David Harewood, Tom Hollander and Alistair Petrie also in the ensemble. It saw Hiddleston’s Jonathan Pine, the night manager of a luxury Cairo hotel and former British soldier, recruited to infiltrate an arms dealer’s inner circle.
Now, Deadline have broken the news of a follow up. The show, reportedly under the codename of Steelworks, is a co-production between Amazon Prime Video and the BBC. While it’s yet to be greenlit, the deal is expected to cover two seasons. The first should begin filming later in the year in London and South America.
David Farr (Troy: Fall of a City, Hanna), writer of the first season, is expected to return. That’s news in contrast to reports from 2018 which suggested a different writing line-up.
We’ll keep you posted on The Night Manager. The first season is currently available to stream on Prime Video.
