There’s a new pair of Star Trek teaser trailers to enjoy, thanks to Amazon Prime

First is the teaser for Star Trek: Picard season 2. Patrick Stewart narrates as the camera pans around what appears to be his chateau. The voiceover tells us:

“The true final frontier is time…”

While the viewer ponders, the focus moves to a dissolving playing card, watching until only the letter “Q” remains; at this point John de Lancie tells us ‘the trial never ended…’. With time travel handled reasonably well in the recent season of Star Trek: Discovery, we hope this going to provide more than a fannish sequence of cameos through time for no real reason. We have to wait until 2022 to find out.

The other new Star Trek teaser is for Star Trek: Lower Decks season 2. This will arrive in the summer of this year, and the trailer is actual footage from the show, letting us see what our heroes are up to following events of season 1. As the trailer says: ‘there’s plenty of sci-fi stuff‘.

We wonder if it were possible to pick two more contrasting shows in the Star Trek canon, both of which manage to find roles for Jonathan Frakes as Riker. We’ll keep you up to date on news from both shows and share any more cameos as we hear about them.
