Doctor Who Circuit Breaker launches with UNIT contacting the Fugitive Doctor

Circuit Breaker, a new multi-media Doctor Who adventure, has launched in the official website with an instalment titled Calling the Doctor.

The story follows Osgood (Ingrid Oliver) and Andrew (Omari Douglas) as a mysterious threat emerges from UNIT’s Black Archive, leading them to seek help from the Fugitive Doctor (Jo Martin).

Over the past weeks, objects of alien origin have appeared without warning in UNIT’s Black Archive. Head UNIT archivist Petronella Osgood and her assistant Andrew Turner are tasked with securing and studying the objects ‒ which are are surrounded by a dangerous corrupted energy signature.

• A Helmet, identified as Sontaran in origin
• An entire Weeping Angel corrupted with a strange energy signature
• A chrysalis, which tests have revealed contains a Memory Worm
• A Gallifreyan Time Ring
• A gun stick, identified as Dalek in origin
• A mace and handcuffs, also identified as Sontaran
• A Carrionite Crystal Ball, which was housed in the Archive since the Doctor dropped it off
• A mask from a Clockwork Droid

Originally suspecting that the Doctor sent the objects to UNIT, Osgood’s team now believe that the objects pose a danger to the Doctor ‒ and all of space and time.

Each object has been torn out of the timeline of the Doctor and each is linked to a regeneration of the Doctor. With holes in the Doctor’s timeline, none of the objects will be there when the Doctor needs them. The timeline of the Doctor and all their regenerations could collapse.

Osgood and Andrew decide to contact an earlier version of the Doctor who hasn’t come into contact with the objects. They each talk to the Fugitive Doctor, the earliest Doctor that they know of, on the Doctor’s private telephone line.

Reluctant to help at first, the Fugitive Doctor listens to Andrew speak of a device he created from specs he found hidden in the archive, the Resistor. The Resistor is capable of restoring the flow of time by synthesising and breaking down the volatile energy generated by an object when it is removed from its timeline.

The Fugitive Doctor, capable of time travel, is recruited to go to the precise moments the objects were taken to replace them before anyone realises they’re gone.

Future chapters of Circuit Breaker will continue across Titan Comics, Doctor Who Magazine, BBC Audiobooks, East Side Games, Puffin, BBC Books and Big Finish.
