Jodie Whittaker is set to start filming her first series as Doctor Who imminently, but she’s still found time to do a little bit of press for the recent hit drama, Trust Me, that’s about to premiere in Australia and New Zealand.
In an interview with Stuff.co.nz, Whittaker talked about the need to throw people off the scent over her casting, before it was officially announced. But also, she noted that her Doctor Who profile may now help her get projects like the terrific film Adult Life Skills funded. It’s Doctor Who first and foremost for her, though.
“I’m really excited to get my head down and spend some time on this and not spread myself too thin” she said of the Who role.
“It’s a big and exciting challenge – one that needs 100 per cent focus. I’ve certainly got a few more years left in me, I’d like to be working in my 70s and 80s. And when I look at my CV, I just think I’ve been so lucky to have had different characters and storylines to work with all the time. Obviously now, this job is going to be the ultimate”.
She’ll debut her take on the Doctor, of course, in this year’s Christmas special, Twice Upon A Time.
