BBC America has unveiled a set of new images from the two-part story that will open the new season of Doctor Who.
Peter Capaldi returns for his second season as the Doctor on Saturday 19 September on BBC One in ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’. Part 2, titled ‘The Witch’s Familiar’, will air the following weekend.
The story’s writer, Steven Moffat, hinted this week: “Why not start with a blockbuster? Why leave it till the last two weeks? So yes, it’s like starting with a finale, and having a big, grand, movie-sized story, as opposed to a 45-minute story.”
The three new official photos feature Michelle Gomez as Missy, Jenna Coleman as Clara and Jemma Redgrave as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart.
It was also revealed this week that the first episode of Season 9’s two-part finale will be a single-hander with just Peter Capaldi and no other cast members.
