A second female writer for the new season of Doctor Who has been announced.
Sarah Dollard has previously written episodes of Being Human, Aussie soap Neighbours and BBC Two’s recent spy thriller The Game.
The Game is created by Doctor Who writer Toby Whithouse, who returns in Season 9 with a brand new two-part story.
Being Human writer Jamie Mathieson, who made his Doctor Who debut last year with ‘Mummy on the Orient Express’ and ‘Flatline’, is also back this year for an episode co-written with Steven Moffat.
Dollard commented: “Getting to play in the Doctor Who toy box is a dream come true. It’s a total honour to contribute to a show that has brought me such joy as a fan. However, writing for Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman has presented a serious problem: some days I’ve been too excited to actually sit down and type!”
The Australian writer also worked as a script editor on Merlin, Primeval and Sky1’s Stella.
Her episode is shooting in Cardiff now and is directed by Justin Molotnikov (Merlin).
Season 9 began filming in Cardiff in January and will air on BBC One this autumn.
