Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has responded to fan theories that it was Osgood’s Zygon duplicate which died in Season 8’s finale.

Ingrid Oliver made her debut as UNIT scientist Osgood in the show’s 50th anniversary special, ‘The Day of the Doctor’, in which viewers saw Osgood replicated by a shapeshifting Zygon.

Osgood was vaporised by Missy in ‘Death in Heaven’.

Answering a fan’s suggestion that the real Osgood is in fact still alive, Moffat told Doctor Who Magazine: “Nah. If it had been a Zygon, she wouldn’t have been killed so easily.”

He added: “Dead, I’m afraid.”
