According to Nicola Methven, TV editor of The Mirror, in the Doctor Who BBC centenary special, Jodie Whittaker’s thirteenth Doctor will wear a wide variety of costumes and accessories worn by actors who formerly played the iconic role.
Methven also reports that, as we previously reported, former thirteenth Doctor companion Graham O’Brien (Bradley Walsh) will return – this time to facilitate a reunion between the Doctor and many of her old companions.
Among the costumes and accessories will be the second Doctor’s (Patrick Troughton) checked trousers (Oh, my giddy aunt!), the fourth Doctor’s (Tom Baker) striped scarf, fifth Doctor’s (Peter Davison) lapel celery sprig, the seventh Doctor’s (Sylvester McCoy) question mark jumper and the tenth Doctor’s (David Tennant) brown and blue tie.
Methven’s source said: “Getting Jodie – and some others – to wear some of the best-loved items from the Doctors’ wardrobes over the decades, seems a fitting and perfect way to mark the BBC’s 100 year anniversary.”
Though former Doctor’s friends Tegan (Janet Fielding), Ace (Sophie Aldred), Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave) and Viner (Jacob Anderson) have already been announced as returning for the special, a host of actors previously on Doctor Who will reportedly also make an appearance, maybe even some former Doctors.
Foes The Master (Sacha Dhawan) the Daleks and the Cybermen can be seen in the trailer for the special, in which Jodie Whittaker’s thirteenth Doctor is expected to regenerate.
Written by Chris Chibnall and directed by Jamie Magnus Stone, the Doctor Who BBC Centenary Special will air October 2022.
