Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has revealed that there will be more than one two-part story in the new season.
Moffat told Radio Times: “We’re filming our first two-parter at the moment, which is in fact going to be episodes three and four of the new series. A brilliant script by Toby Whithouse.”
Whithouse’s story features guest stars Paul Kaye (Game of Thrones), Arsher Ali (The Missing), Colin McFarlane (Eastenders) and Steven Robertson (Being Human).
The second block of filming is due to begin soon and part of the shoot is rumoured to taking place in Spain.
Moffat has now confirmed that he is the writer of these two stories: “…then we’re about to move on to a couple of scripts I’ve written.”
He also teased: “We’ve got some other stuff lined up from other writers – some new, some old, some middle-aged. It’s a little early to start teasing it too much, but I’m pretty excited. We’ve got some very, very good stuff coming.”
Season 9 began filming in Cardiff earlier this month and will air on BBC One this autumn.
