ITV’s take on the South Korean reality game show lands at the end of April.
As if acting, presenting and podcast-hosting weren’t enough, ever industrious David Tennant has a new string to his bow. He’s becoming a game show host.
We first heard his name in connection to The Genius Game back in March 2024. Now, thanks to Virgin Media’s spring preview, we know to expect the show on ITV1 from Wednesday, 30th April 2025.

The Genius Game is set for an eight-episode run, dropping on Wednesday and Thursdays (according to TV Zone). Tennant takes on the role of “The Creator” to guide the players as they navigate the competition and compete for a £50,000 prize. The show comes from Remarkable Entertainment (Pointless, Only Connect).
Here’s how ITV describe the show:
Genius Game is a brand-new reality game show that will see strategically minded players, chosen not just for their high intellectual prowess but also their social IQ, face the ultimate battle of survival. To win, contestants will participate in a host of never before seen games all designed to not only test their intellectual acumen but encourage them to carefully and creatively use the art of manipulation to outfox their opponents and win a cash prize.
We’re thinking a blend of The Crystal Maze with a side-order of The Traitors. ITV have begun promotions for the show…

We’ll keep you posted on The Genius Game.
David Tennant
Coming up over the next few months, Tennant takes a role in The Hack, a 7-part ITV drama about the UK’s phone hacking scandal and its impact. The show comes from the team behind Mr Bates vs The Post Office.
He’s also taking part in The Assembly, where he’ll receive a grilling from a panel of neurodivergent and/or learning disabled interviewers. His Good Omens co-star Michael Sheen gamely took part in the show’s pilot epsiode, which was terrific viewing.
In podcast land, he’s just finished the third series of David Tennant Does a Podcast With… The final instalment saw Georgia Tennant take over the mic and interview the host himself. It’s well worth a listen and surprisingly touching at times.
Finally, at some point, we can expect that Good Omens finale, plus a second series of Rivals too.
