Doctor Who: new Season Two trailer released

The BBC and Disney have released a new trailer and poster for Doctor Who Season Two.

While Take Me Home by Phil Collins plays, the trailer shows the time-travelling pair in 1952, 2007, 2025 and the 51st Century.

At the start of the trailer, the Doctor says, “I am the last of the Time Lords. I’m from a different planet, an evolved life form, and I have waited for the day of your arrival.”

The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) meets Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) and begins an epic quest to get her back to Earth. But a mysterious force is stopping their return and the time-travelling TARDIS team must face great dangers, bigger enemies and wider terrors than ever before.

“I’m the Doctor,” the Doctor introduces himself. “Doctor what?,” Belinda asks, “Just the Doctor.” The Doctor answers. “All right then,” Belinda replies. “I’m called the Nurse.” To which the Doctor replies, “Good Team.”

“Can’t you get this box of yours fixed?” and “You need to get me home!” Belinda asks and demands.

“You don’t need to rush because…,” the Doctor begins. “This is a time machine,” finishes Belinda. “Boom!,” the Doctor confirms.

The Doctor’s old friend Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) looks out over London from the UNIT tower helipad.

In one hilarious sequence in the trailer, the Doctor and Belinda are transformed into animated characters by Mr Ring-a-Ding (Alan Cumming), a cartoon who escaped the cinema screen.

Doctor Who Season Two will officially launch with Episode One on Saturday 12 April at 8am on BBC iPlayer and later that day on BBC One in the UK. Those outside of the UK can watch Doctor Who Season Two on Disney+ where available simultaneously starting at 3am ET/12am PT. The remaining seven episodes of the series will transmit on subsequent Saturdays.
