Vought Rising will chronicle the early years of the corrupt corporation.
At the recent San Diego Comic-Con, Prime Video announced a new prequel series to The Boys.
Called Vought Rising, it will star Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, both reprising their roles from the main show.
Set in the 1950s, Vought Rising takes place in New York City and was described as “humble yet diabolical.”
Executive producer and showrunner Eric Kripke and executive producer Paul Grellong said:
“We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys. It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”
Jensen Ackles stars as Soldier Boy (from The Boys season 3), while Ava Cash returns as Stormfront (from season 2). Both will be executive producers on the show.
The other executive producers are Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, and Michaela Starr. The series comes from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.
No further details were forthcoming, such as when production starts or a target date. However, The Boys is slated to finish after the forthcoming season 5, so the show might follow on from there.
The prequel show joins the Voughtverse as its second live-action spinoff; the college aged Gen V is currently filming its second season.
SDCC
There’s a good write up of the SDCC panel in this THR piece, but beware – it’s rife with spoilers for the recently concluded Season 4!
