Welcome to the CultBox Podcast Roundup for February 2022.

Our favourite podcasts this month in the worlds of film and tv have included, in no particular order…

The Two Shot Podcast, S9 Ep11 – Arthur Darvill

Craig Parkinson speaks to Arthur Darvill (Doctor Who, Broadchurch, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow). The wide-ranging conversation takes in his parental influences of music and puppetry, as well as boarding school.

From wonderfully named bands to his Beatles obsession, it’s a relaxed chat which also covers drama school, learning period dance and having a mum famous for the voice of a children’s television icon.

The Doctor Who Show – Alternate Galaxies: The Book of Boba Fett

In one of their irregular steps outside the Whoniverse, the good fellas of The Doctor Who Show (plus guest Richard) have a lively chat about the latest Star Wars television series: The Book of Boba Fett.

With differing levels of knowledge about the character, it’s an interesting chat about the story and the show’s unexpected structure. We found ourselves agreeing with plenty of their observations!

Film Stories with Simon Brew

In February, Film Stories looked at the tales behind the following movies: Man on Fire, Office Space, Showgirls, The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, Star Trek: First Contact, The Big Sick, The Abyss and Big.

Additionally, there was a special ‘in conversation with’ episode talking to Star Trek legend Colm Meaney. While ostensibly about his new movie Confession, the conversation took in lucrative work on Die Hard 2, Con Air and memories of the late Alan Parker.

The Two Shot Podcast, S9 Ep13 – John Simm

Craig Parkinson is back on our list with another high profile guest, this time the Masterful John Simm. It’s an engaging conversation about his career, starting with drama school and revealing an interesting job along the way. The Two Shot doesn’t tend to focus on particular jobs, but there’s talk of Life on Mars and the intensive schedule that led him to leave after two series.

So, happy listening… and do let us know if you have any recommendations too.
