Welcome to the Podcast Roundup for October 2022 – our favourites in the worlds of CultBox.

Our picks this month, in no particular order, are…

That Gaby Roslin Podcast – Ghosts

First up, the irrepressible Gaby Roslin hosts four of the writers and stars of Ghosts. As well as plenty of chat about how the show is made, there’s talk of other projects and how the team formed on the set of Horrible Histories.

Acting for Others Presents… David Tennant and Pappa Essiedu

In a new podcast, fundraising for theatre workers in need, David Tennant chats to Pappa Essiedu (I May Destroy You). Highlights include the revelation that Tennant was on a long list for James Bond, and reflections on fame and the loss of anonymity.

Other episodes include Dame Judi Dench talking to Olly Alexander and Bridgerton‘s Golda Rosheuvel with Noma Dumezweni (The Witcher).

Real Dictators: Lenin

WHO Corner to Corner #59 – Sophie Returns

Who Corner to Corner podcast

Who C2C’s ever enthusiastic hosts Paul and Geoff are joined once again by Sophie Aldred. Now ‘The Power of the Doctor’ has aired, they’re free to discuss the special and Sophie’s contributions to it. Cue some insight behind the meeting of multiple Doctors, as well as talk of how Ace’s return came about.

There’s also some consideration as to what might have caused the rift between the Doctor and Ace, courtesy of a message interchange with Sylvester McCoy!

Film Stories with Simon Brew

This month, Simon Brew looked at the Film Stories behind a diverse bunch of movies… The Silence of the Lambs, Toy Soldiers, Paranormal Activity, Cocoon, Blade Trinity, Candyman, Hidden Figures, The LEGO Movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Timecop.

Additionally, there have been a host of Film Stories Extra pods including a delightful chat with Stephen Frears on The Lost King and one with actor turned director Frances O’Connor on her debut feature Emily.

Plus, there was a live recording of an “in conversation” interview with Paul Feig and, just missing our last roundup, one with Gurinder Chadha OBE too.

So, happy listening… and do let us know if you have any recommendations too.
