Miranda Hart has revealed that her sitcom is going to finish with two Christmas specials.
In an interview with BBC Radio 2’s Steve Wright today, the comedian announced: “…I’m actually coming to the end of the whole sitcom. This is the first time I’m saying it out loud, so it’s a bit weird!”
She continued: “So I’m doing two Christmas specials, but they are going to be the finale of the show, full stop.”
Hart explained that it was “the right time to end it” and that she wants Miranda to go out “on a high”.
She added: “People have loved the character, which is so nice and amazing for me. But as she gets older I don’t want her to keep falling over and make a complete fool of herself.”
Created and written by Miranda Hart, Miranda launched on BBC Two in November 2009, moving to BBC One for the third season in 2012.
BBC executive Shane Allen commented last year that “the fourth series will probably be a long way off”.
