It’s not uncommon for famous faces to team up with bingo brands to promote UK bingo sites.
Adding a sense of fun and credibility to advertisements, over the years, musicians, TV stars and actors have all extolled the virtues of playing bingo online.
Cheeky cockney star Barbara Windsor, for example, is a familiar face with bingo players, having fronted campaigns for years. Decked out in a Disney princess-esque dress, the EastEnders actress’s partnership with Jackpotjoy Bingo has cast her as the undisputed ‘Queen of Bingo’.
Foxy Bingo has arguably hit the celeb endorsement jackpot, thanks to its recent multi-year deal with reality docu-soap The Only Way Is Essex.
In a 2014 campaign TOWIE star Joey Essex appeared bare-chested in a kilt with a set of bagpipes, a saucy image that caused the advert to go viral, with the dedicated hashtag #FoxyGoesToEssex used to promote the video on social media. And, in October this year, three of the show’s stars, Bobby Cole Norris, Ferne McCann and James Lock, appeared in a TV ad alongside Foxy himself.
Former Spice Girl Mel B’s 2014 TV advertisement for Costa Bingo saw her as a towering, Godzilla-like figure, crushing cars and terrorising London whilst clutching a giant Costa logo.
Finally, proving that celebrity endorsements can be altruistic, Peter Andre and Wink Bingo have teamed up to raise awareness and money for Cancer Research UK – a seriously worthwhile partnership.
So, whether or not featuring celebs in advertisements really encourages our allegiance to one bingo brand over another, it seems they’re just as popular as ever.
