Bare-faced cheek

No, we’re not talking about John Barrowman’s propensity to get naked, although there is an infamously cut scene from ‘Bad Wolf’, but Jack’s infectious sense of humour.

Now that the Twelfth Doctor has started to rediscover himself, an infusion of Jack’s joie de vivre might make for an intoxicating dynamic on board the TARDIS.

Jack vs. River

Despite appearing to share a taste in Vortex manipulators, squareness guns and Time Lords, we have yet to see Captain Jack Harkness and Professor River Song together.

Would they vie for the Doctor’s affections or team up against him? Could the infinite dimensions of the TARDIS even contain that level of flirty interaction?

John Barrowman and Alex Kingston are well acquainted, often seen together on the convention circuit as well as in the cast of Arrow, and Steven Moffat has said the possibility is “never, ever closed off”. So when is the next anniversary special then?
