On the Radio Free Skaro podcast recorded at the Gallifrey One convention in Los Angeles, California on 14 February, Bad Wolf executive Julie Gardner enthused about Doctor Who Season Two — which will hit screens in April 2025.
“I’m just really excited for Season Two. I mean, obviously, I would say that but I think it’s so wonderful to see Ncuti in his second season. He’s an epic Doctor. He’s going to get pushed a lot in Season Two. He’s emotional. He’s funny. He’s so light on his feet. He’s so dynamic. He’s vivid!”
“I think [Ncuti Gatwa] hit the ground running because, the very first scene he shot with us, when he was shooting Sex Ed, was the climax to Finetime [the community depicted in the Season One episode Dot and Bubble] and that’s massive scene. That’s a big scene. That’s a big, emotional scene and he hit it right there and then.
Gardner spoke of the new dynamic with Doctor and this two Season Two companions.
But it’s lovely we know the Doctor more. Well, it’s always the Doctor but we know what Ncuti brings to it and we see him in a new dynamic with Belinda Finch [Yes, she said “Belinda Finch”, not the officially-announced name for the character, Miss Belinda Chandra] played by Varada Sethu. It’s brilliant to have Millie Gibson back as Ruby. So, they’re like a family of characters that you’re enjoying.”
She also gave some idea of the schedule of progress for Season Two. The first of the two-part series finale is nearing completion.
“Today [14 February 2025] was the Episode Seven final mix. That’s what I did before I came here so, hooray!”
Doctor Who Season Two, starring Ncuti Gatwa, Millie Gibson and Varda Sethu, will transmit in April and May 2025 on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and Disney+ where available.
