The BBC has filed an application which, among other kinds of merchandise, will take Doctor Who into Web3 and the Metaverse.
The broadcaster submitted a trademark application for the Doctor Who logo and brand to the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) on May 1, 2023. The application suggests that the broadcaster is planning to offer NFTs using blockchain technology, as well as virtual reality software and wearable digital devices.

The BBC and Disney, who will stream the programme globally on Disney+, have not yet commented on their extensive merchandising plans for the franchise.
