It’s now been officially confirmed that Peter Capaldi will indeed be appearing as the Doctor in Class.
The first two episodes of BBC Three’s new Doctor Who spin-off will premiere online on Saturday 22 October, it was revealed this afternoon.
The BBC has also now confirmed that Peter Capaldi will guest star in the eight-part YA sci-fi drama‘s opening instalment, which is titled ‘For Tonight We Might Die’.
The cameo was first rumoured back in April.
Capaldi commented: “The Doctor Who family is growing, and it’s fantastic to be able to welcome the young new cast of Class in to the Whoniverse.”
Class creator Patrick Ness said: “At last, we can tell you a little more about Class! Though there are still many, many secrets to come. Many. Like, a lot. But of COURSE, the Doctor is in Episode 1! That’s how these things are done. ”
The YA author added: “Truly, though, I can’t wait for everyone to see the show; we’ve worked so hard and I’m so proud of it. Soon, soon…”

The BBC has warned that Class is “not suitable viewing for younger audiences” as it features “more mature themes than Doctor Who.”
Class will be shown in the US on BBC America at a later date.
The new season of Doctor Who is currently filming in Cardiff and begins on BBC One in April 2017.
