The makers of Doctor Who will apparently head to Tenerife tomorrow to film scenes for the new season.
Block 2 of Season 9, the two-part opener, started filming earlier this month. Michelle Gomez will be back as Missy in the story, with Jemma Redgrave also returning as UNIT’s Kate Stewart.
Written by showrunner Steven Moffat and directed by Hettie Macdonald (‘Blink’), the story’s episodes are titled ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’ and ‘The Witch’s Familiar’.
Tenerife is the largest island of Spain’s seven Canary Islands and features the third largest volcano in the world.
It was revealed last month that Block 2’s Director of Photography, Ali Asad, was going to Spain on a location recce.
Previous episodes to be partly shot in Spain include ‘Asylum of the Daleks’, ‘A Town Called Mercy’ and last year’s ‘Kill the Moon’.
Season 9 began filming in Cardiff in January and will air on BBC One this autumn.
