Doctor Who Series 13: Mandip Gill and John Bishop filming in period costume in Liverpool

Posted Filed under

A Doctor Who film crew recorded Mandip Gill and John Bishop at St George’s Hall in Liverpool for Doctor Who Series 13 on Thursday, March 25.

St George’s Hall, opened in 1854, is a Neoclassical building in Liverpool which contains concert halls and law courts.

The two actors, in 19th century period costume, were filming scenes with Kevin McNally, an actor best known for playing Joshamee Gibbs in the Pirates of the Caribbean films.

Mandip Gill’s costume was a split skirt suitable for riding a bicycle. She also wore a straw hat. John Bishop also wore 19th century clothing with a flat cap.

Director Azhur Saleem was seen conducting the action.

Photos of two slates from Doctor Who filming on the preceding two days revealed that scenes from Episodes 1 and 3 of Series 13 were filmed in Liverpool. Director Azhur Saleem’s CV reveals his block of filming contains three episodes – so the filming at St George’s Hall could be for yet another episode.

The crew filmed Doctor Who Series 13 scenes with Jodie Whittaker, Mandip Gill and and John Bishop and the TARDIS at Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool on March 22.

John Bishop and Nadia Albina filmed at the Museum of Liverpool on March 23.

Bishop and Albina also filmed the next day, March 24, at the Church of St Luke and Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral.

Eight episodes are planned for Doctor Who Series 13 with the filming continuing into July. The clip which introduced John Bishop as companion Dan revealed the series is scheduled to air sometime in 2021, likely late autumn.
