Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson film Doctor Who near Cardiff Central

Ncuti Gatwa, Millie Gibson and Ruth Madeley were spotted filming scenes for the Doctor Who 2025 series near Cardiff Central on 21 April 2024.

The three actors performed scenes in a setting in front of an office building which was previously used to film UNIT headquarters for the 2024 series finale. The filming included a cast of many extras in suits and bowler hats. Ncuti Gatwa was similarly dressed.

The setting was dressed with large posters featuring Jonah Hauer-King as a character named Conrad. Earlier filming reports suggested Conrad was a love interest for Ruby Sunday.

A crown symbol appeared on the location to replace the UNIT logo in a “Controlled Zone” in the city of London.

The situation appeared to be dystopian with Ruth Madeley’s character Shirley Anne Bingham appearing to no longer work for UNIT.

Millie Gibson filmed in the same costume Ruby Sunday wore for the 2024 series finale.

Ncuti Gatwa generously made time for selfies and autographs with fans before departing the location.

Police vans bearing the ominous-looking crown insignia were involved in a later scene as Ruby, Shirley and another wheelchair user scrambled to hide from the vehicles.

The filming was for an episode which is expected to broadcast and stream as part of the 2025 Doctor Who series.

Doctor Who, starring Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson returns on 11 May 2024 midnight, 00:00 BST (10 May 7:00pm ET) streaming on BBC iPlayer and Disney+ with Space Babies and The Devil’s Chord. Both episodes will broadcast on BBC One in the UK and Ireland on 11 May immediately before Eurovision. The remaining six episodes will stream at 00:00 BST on the six subsequent Saturdays.
