Sir Derek Jacobi chats candidly to Big Finish’s Scott Handcock about his life and career.
The latest in their occasional ‘In Conversation’ series, audio producers Big Finish have sat down with Sir Derek Jacobi.
The legendary actor, best known on television for shows such as I, Claudius, Cadfael and Last Tango in Halifax, has also reprised his Doctor Who role as the War Master for the company since 2017.
He also played Cole Hawlings in their recent adaptation of the festive classic The Box of Delights.
Candidly looking back at key moments in his life and career, we’re told this is a deeply personal interview. Across more than two and a half hours, Derek reminisces about his incredibly lucky life: from growing up during the war to tackling King Lear at the Donmar Warehouse… and much more.
Speaking to Vortex magazine, interviewer Scott Handcock said: “The toughest part of the whole process was deciding what to exclude! I did a lot of research because I didn’t want to leave anything out but inevitably you can’t include everything. I could have spent a week chatting with Derek and still not covered it all, his career alone spans 60 years! But he remembers it all in so much detail. It was a joy to listen to.”
First announced in June, I, Jacobi follows in the footsteps of interviews such as This is Colin Baker, Carolyn Seymour in Conversation, Call me Jacks and Tom Baker at 80.
