Marvel shuffles its television show dates

The schedule of announced Marvel shows on Disney+ now stretches out well into 2024.

As the impact of ongoing writers and actors strikes begin to trickle through, Marvel have announced a few changes to their upcoming Disney+ schedule.

As reported in Deadline, here’s what the MCU television pipeline currently looks like…

Loki Season 2

Loki

Season 2 of Loki holds to its October 6th, 2023 launch date. The show, which is the only live-action MCU show to enjoy a second run (so far), will see Tom Hiddleston back as the titular Norse god of mischief.

Owen Wilson returns as Mobius and the season introduces Everything Everywhere All at Once‘s Ke Huy Quan as a worker at the Time Variance Authority.

Season 2 also stars Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku and Jonathan Majors, with Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr and Neil Ellice rounding out the cast.

What If…?

The second run of the reality bending What If…? arrives in the holiday season – so somewhere between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Jeffery Wright returns to voice the Watcher as he looks at alternate takes on familiar Marvel heroes. We can expect to see versions of Hela (of Thor: Ragnarok), Shang Chi, Red Guardian, Yelena Belova, Kate Bishop and Ikaris. Plus, a road-warrior version of Agent Jimmy Woo and more of Captain Carter.

Echo

The Hawkeye spinoff Echo, starring Alaqua Cox, was looking at a late-November launch. It’s now expected to launch in January 2024 instead.

The show follows Maya Lopex as she copes with the revelation of her familial connection to the Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio). Expect Charlie Cox to appear as Matt Murdock ahead of his own Daredevil: Born Again series, plus Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning, and Graham Greene.

X-Men '97

X-Men ’97

The animated series X-Men ’97 is now expected to land early in 2024, rather than late-2023.

The show is descried as a spiritual and tonal successor to the late-90s Fox animation and already has a second season in the works.

Agatha: Darkhold Diaries

Now re-christened Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, the Kathryn Hahn fronted show is likely to land around Halloween 2024. Spinning out of Wandavision, and variously known as House of Harkness and Coven of Chaos, the show has finished filming.

Joining Hahn are Debra Jo Rupp, Patti LuPone, Sasheer Zamata and Aubrey Plaza. Plus, Heartstopper‘s Joe Locke and Miles Gutierrez-Riley as Hulkling.

The rest

Three other series have dropped off the schedule for the moment…

Ironheart – starring Wakanda Forever‘s Riri Williams as the genius inventor Dominique Thorne has apparently completed shooting, but is unfinished.

Daredevil: Born Again – Charlie Cox’s full on return to the role of Daredevil paused during production. It was due to land in spring 2024, but will doubtless be delayed.

Wonder Manstarring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, it’s the same story for Wonder Man which was also paused in mid-production.

We’ll keep you posted.
