BBC studios has partnered with English Heritage to bring the TARDIS to Stonehenge, offering fans the chance to see the Doctor’s time and space machine up close at UNESCO World Heritage Site on Doctor Who Day, Sunday 23 November.
Doctor Who fans will recognise Stonehenge as the site of an iconic clash between Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor, an army of Roman centurions and a sky full of enemy spacecraft in Series 5’s penultimate adventure, The Pandorica Opens.
The TARDIS at Stonehenge marks the culmination of Vworp Around the World, an interactive digital treasure hunt hosted on UNIT HQ that has allowed fans with BBC accounts to access five digital missions to crack codes and find clues disseminated across Doctor Who social channels, unlocking exclusive digital content.

“Doctor Who Day is all about creating unforgettable experiences for fans,” said Sarah Bold, Head of Marketing, Doctor Who Brand, BBC Studios. “Bringing the TARDIS to Stonehenge unites two icons of British culture in a way that celebrates imagination, heritage, and fandom. We’re thrilled to partner with English Heritage to make this moment truly special.”
Richard Dewdney, Stonehenge Operations Manager at English Heritage commented: “We’re excited to welcome back the Doctor Who universe to Stonehenge, having provided the backdrop to an episode of the iconic TV series fifteen years ago. We hope that fans who visit us to discover the TARDIS’s location will also enjoy exploring the mysteries of Stonehenge.”
