Prime Video releases a Galadriel focussed promo as we count the days until The Rings of Power begins.
HBO’s House of the Dragon may have hogged the weekend’s headlines, but it’s not the only show in town. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power begins on Friday, 2nd September and is expected to make waves in the streaming world.
The Rings of Power takes place in Middle-earth’s fabled Second Age, thousands of years before The Lord of the Rings takes place. Using Tolkien’s The Silmarillion and other texts, it chronicles the rise of Sauron and the forging of those all-important rings.
The new promo focusses on Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), who attempts to rally opposition to the gathering dark forces.
“Choose not the path of fear but that of faith.”
Full of dramatic scenery and a lot of intense looks, the trailer gives a taste of what’s to come showing Elves, Dwarves and Harfoots, as well as men.
The Rings of Power has a suitably epic-sized cast. Joining Morfydd Clark are Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.
The eight-part series is led by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay.
Prime Video has revealed it’s dropping two episodes on September 2nd, with the remaining six following weekly.
