Two new Doctor Who games were announced on October 11 on a virtual panel for New York Comic Con.
The panel featured Ingrid Oliver (Doctor Who’s Osgood), Studio Director Russ Harding, writer Gavin Collinson and CEO of Kaigan Games, Azmi Shah.
Launching in Spring of 2021, the two games, made in partnership with Maze Theory and BBC Studios, are designed to expand the Doctor Who interactive universe.
Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality
Coming to consoles and PC, Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality reimagines and builds upon last year’s VR experience, Doctor Who: The Edge of Time, with a compelling first-person adventure across space and time to save reality from a series of time-breaking glitches.
Players will wield the thirteenth Doctor’s sonic screwdriver on a quest to save the universe, guided by the thirteenth Doctor, voiced by Jodie Whittaker, and joined by the Tenth Doctor, voiced by David Tennant.
In The Edge of Reality, players will face a universe-spanning threat including Daleks, Weeping Angels, Cybermen and more.
Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins
Coming to iOS, Android and Nintendo Switch by award-winning Malaysian studio Kaigan Games, The Lonely Assassins will see players uncover and decipher the mystery of a ‘found phone’, unravelling a sinister series of events taking place at Wester Drumlins, the iconic ‘uninhabited’ home featured in the legendary Doctor Who episode Blink.
“It’s funny because, when you’re not filming closeups, you can move around a lot more and so you’re quite free,” Ingrid Oliver explained as she described how reprising her Doctor Who role as Osgood for The Lonely Assassins differed from filming the television show. “It feels very real, like you’re in the situation, which is terrifying, considering what we were filming.”
The mystery features a missing person and a menacing new nemesis. Players work with Petronella Osgood and other classic characters to get steadily closer to the truth. Don’t turn your back, don’t look away and don’t blink!
