There’s plenty that’s new to television in 2024, but also lots of returning shows vying for our attention.
Here’s a quick rundown of six shows that we will be setting the series link button for…
Death in Paradise / Beyond Paradise
There’s two for one here, as Death in Paradise and its UK based spin-off Beyond Paradise are both back for another run.
In the dark days of January, what’s not to love about watching murder-mystery based antics on a sun-drenched Caribbean island… followed by the antics of DI Humphrey Goodman applying his unique skills to crimes back home in Blighty.
Off the back of a Christmas special apiece, Death in Paradise begins its 13th series, while Beyond Paradise starts its second.
True Detective: Night Country
With a cast led by Jodie Foster, and containing both Christopher Eccleston and Fiona Shaw, we can’t wait for the fourth season of True Detective.
The cast, bathed in the Alaskan half-light, surrounds the mysterious fate of the crew of an Arctic Research Station who vanish without a trace.
True Detective: Night Country begins on Monday 15th January, 2024 and runs for six episodes.
Doctor Who
With The Goblin Song still ringing in our ears, it’s onward and upwards for the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson).
The first full new series under returning showrunner Russell T Davies promises eight episodes and launches in May. A teaser dropped after the Christmas Special that you can view here.
House of the Dragon
Where would we be without some dragon-based Westerosi action to look forward to? Season 2 of the mighty Game of Thrones prequel will continue the tale of the tussle for power inside the ruling House Targaryen.
Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke all return, with the show’s second season running for eight episodes.
House of the Dragon Season 2 kicks off in the summer.
The Boys
2024 brings us the forth series of The Boys. Coming off the back of its teen spin-off Gen V, the main show in the Voughtverse promises a superpowered election.
The Boys Season 4 is also slated for a summer start.
Only Murders in the Building
The hilarious Only Murders in the Building left us on another cliffhanger and, as ever, and another murder to solve. Promptly recommissioned, the show also dangles the promise of some travel away from the Arconia building, further than Broadway, with romantic entanglements for both Oliver and Mable leaning in the direction of Los Angeles.
The show’s enjoyed an impressive guest cast this year, including both Paul Rudd and Meryl Streep. We can’t wait to see who they have lined up for 2024!
Based on the previous three years, Only Murders in the Building Season 4 is likely to land in August.
