According to a BBC spokesperson, “An episode of Doctor Who has been temporarily removed from BBC iPlayer to be re-dubbed.”
The BBC is is in the process of scrubbing disgraced journalist Huw Edwards from its vast library of content. Edwards pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children.
Fear Her features Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) and his companion Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) helping a girl who is terrorized by a demonic version of her abusive dead father. Edwards is featured in a brief news clip during the episode. The edit is unsurprising considering the young fan base of Doctor Who and the subject matter of the episode.
According to a source reported by the Mirror, brief footage of Edwards will be edited out.
“It’s going to be hard for the BBC to airbrush Huw out of news events he covered, but the Doctor Who episode should be straightforward.”
The BBC affirmed, “As you would expect we are actively considering the availability of our archive. While we don’t routinely delete content from the BBC archive as it is a matter of historical record, we do consider the continued use and re-use of material on a case-by-case basis.”
The Fear Her episode of Doctor Who remains available to stream on HBO Max in the U.S.
