In a video interview with Queerpiphany, Yasmin Finney told the hosts the age of her Doctor Who character Rose and her similarity to another character she plays in Heartstopper, Elle Argent.
“The character is called Rose. She’s another trans icon — a 15-year-old trans girl with a great, supportive family. Envision Heartstopper but fighting aliens.”
The Doctor Who 60th anniversary celebrations are expected to include three specials starring David Tennant as the Doctor and Catherine Tate as companion Donna Noble.
Finney is likely portraying Donna’s daughter, in which case Rose’s supportive family would consist of her mother Donna (Catherine Tate), her father Shaun (Karl Collins), her grandmother Sylvia (Jacqueline King) and great-grandfather Wilf (the late Bernard Cribbins).
